Peter MacQueen

Biography

Peter MacQueen is the Patron of the Caledonian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club, a Scottish television presenter, producer and author with a lifelong love of dogs and the Scottish countryside.

Born and raised in Oban on Scotland's west coast, Peter has worked in television for more than 25 years across documentary, factual entertainment and children's programming. His work has included productions for BBC Alba, Channel 4 and CBBC, and he presents the BBC Alba programmes Gàrradh Phàdruig and Cù Leis Thu? – A Puppy for Pàdruig.

His passion for Scotland's native dog breeds came particularly to the fore in Cù Leis Thu?, in which Peter travelled around Scotland exploring the history of its native breeds and meeting the people working to preserve them.

Peter is also the author of The Art of Hutting and Tails of Scotland: The Story of Scottish Dogs, the latter celebrating Scotland's native breeds, their history, character and the people devoted to them.

Peter lives near Oban with his partner, Coinneach MacLeod, and their dogs, including his Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Peigi.

As Patron of the Club, Peter's enthusiasm for Scotland, its heritage and its native dogs makes him a wonderful ambassador for the Dandie Dinmont Terrier and the work being done to protect and promote this very special Scottish breed.
